What is September Serve? The answer is simple: September Serve is a call to action to the members of The Woodlands UMC and The Loft to live out Christ’s example and demonstrate that we care about those around us. In today’s society, we have become so consumed with our busy schedules that we often can’t see the people around us who need assistance or a small gesture of kindness.
September Serve is our effort to make a difference—it’s a month-long campaign to encourage every man, woman and child in our church to reach out and do something nice, something good, for someone else.
Jesus is our role model. He loved everyone—He fed the poor, healed the sick and had compassion on the less fortunate. It is important that we as a church, God’s children, live out Jesus’ command to love our neighbors as we love ourselves (Matthew 22:39).
Here is the challenge. During the month of September—individually, as a small group, as a Sunday School class, or as a family—find a creative way to help others. Can you imagine what will happen when over 8,000 of us perform multiple random acts of kindness within a one-month period? Not only will over 8,000 people be blessed, but we will be a witness to everyone in our community of what it means to be “the body of Christ.”
September Serve will bring out the very best in us, and it will allow us to serve God by serving others!
